A coupon will work in 2 ways when redeemed, depending on the amount the customers pays at checkout.

If the customer gets a coupon for 50% off, and ends up paying $10 instead of $20, we will use the 20% commission.

If the customer gets a coupon for 100% off, and ends up paying $0 instead of $20, we will use the $3/$5 commission. This is equivalent to sending them a Gift Card or selecting "Specify quantity" from the Send Dialog.

The rule of thumb here is if the customer checks out with their credit card, on our store, the 20% commission will come into play. If their credit card is not charged, then it falls back to the $3/5 fee.
