After America Outdoors 2024, We are ready to guide you through change in 2025.

Hey everyone! We enjoyed seeing many of you at the America Outdoors conference, and yes, it was a blast as always! We also celebrated Steven Foy, at Nantahala Outdoor Center, for winning the George and Pamela Wendt Industry Achievement Award.

And of course, it was packed with awesome insights for outfitters and adventure travel operators folks. Since here at PicThrive, we're all about helping you have a super successful year, we wanted to share some of the key takeaways and how they can help you crush it in 2025.

Riding the Wave of Change

One of the big things we heard was how much the outdoor scene is changing. People's tastes are evolving, new tech is popping up, and we're all becoming more aware of our impact on the environment. It's all about staying flexible and rolling with the punches!

Here's how you can stay ahead of the game:

  • Tech it up! Think online booking, cool virtual tours, and getting your name out there on social media. It's all about reaching those customers where they are.
  • Go Green! Show everyone you care about the planet by using eco-friendly practices and being responsible. It's a win-win!
  • Know your crowd! More and more people are traveling solo, so make sure your trips are welcoming and safe for them. And don't forget to shout about all the amazing health benefits of getting outdoors. There’s a continued focus on healthy-living travel.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

The conference really hammered home how important it is for everyone in the outdoor industry to work together. Sharing ideas, tackling challenges as a team, and supporting each other is how we all grow.

That's why we're super excited to invite you to our upcoming webinars on March 25th and April 29th (both 5-6 PM Eastern). We'll be sharing product updates and some sales and marketing tips to help you succeed. You don't want to miss it!

The Nitty-Gritty Stuff

Besides the big picture stuff, we also talked about some important day-to-day things:

  • Marketing and Pricing: Getting the word out and finding the right price point is key to bringing in those customers and making a profit.
  • Safety First! Keeping everyone safe and minimizing risks is always top priority.
  • Smooth Operations: Streamlining your processes and resources means less stress and more happy customers.
  • Awesome Leadership: Building a great team and creating a positive vibe is essential for attracting and keeping amazing staff.

Building a Dream Team

Speaking of awesome leadership, we picked up on a theme – mentorship. Developing formal or informal mentorship options can help bring up the next generation of outdoor pros and help owners and operators sustain staffing and growth. It's all about sharing knowledge and creating a supportive environment. There’s even a recent AO blog post with some great tips from Zebulon Smith on setting up a mentorship program: Bridging the Generational Divide: Motivating the Next Generation with a Mentor Mindset
