Customize Watermark
Our default Online Store watermarks are specifically designed to discourage theft. We are partners and only make money when you do.
It is ultimately up to you at what level protection you want on your photos. You should balance between your branding and protecting your photos from theft.
In every store we also have the option, by default, to show any "un-watermarked" faces we can detect. This allows the guest to get a small close up of their face to see if they have that perfect smile. It also lets you protect the photo as whole. If you do not want people to be able to see their faces, you can toggle it off. See below for more details.
To adjust your watermark:
- Go to Stores
- Click on the store you want to adjust
- Locate the Watermarks section.
Once in the Watermarks section you will have a few options to choose from to customize your Online Store Watermark.
Faces
By default our AI will search for your photos for any detectable faces. We will then create a special watermark free photo, containing only the faces found in the photo. Each face is resized to 128x128 pixels to stay small, but clear. This allows the guest to essentially peak behind the watermark and still see their own gorgeous smile. It also allows you to keep the watermark opacity at a higher level to prevent theft of your photos.
If you do not want customers to be able to do this, toggle off "Show Faces" so it reads "Don't show Faces".
Image Size
Image Size allows you to adjust the maximum size watermarked photo on the Online Store. Limiting the size to a smaller resolution may reduce theft, but it may also decrease sales. We currently do not have metrics on which resolution is best to maximize sales.
Watermark Type
There are two main watermark types you can choose from:
- Store Name (default)
- This will reflect the name of your PicThrive Store.
- A "Transparency" slider will appear when using this method.
- Custom Image
- Any image you wish to upload. We recommend making this image:
- square
- transparent
- a PNG
- less than 3MB
- Important: Any transparency you set on this image will directly appear on your photos. So if you upload an image without transparency, it will block content below it.
- Important: After selecting a photo please wait until you see a "Saved" notification appear.

Watermark Cover Method
There are 3 options to pick when deciding how to layout your watermark:
- Tile Across
- (default) Your watermark will tile across the image.
- Center
- Your watermark will be centered in the image.
- Stretch
- Your watermark will stretch to cover the image.
