The Payment settings are broken into three sections:

  • Payment Mode
    • Select the method that guests will pay with.
  • Additional Options
  • Square Reader

Payment Mode

Use Your POS

If you wish for guests to pay for their order at your front desk or counter turn this on. This feature will prompt guests to go to the Front Desk after customizing their order. You will then be able to view and approve their order on the Pending Page.

When using this method, we charge following the "On Site" pricing model. See Plans for details.

In-app Payment

If you wish for customers to pay on the Kiosk, using their credit card, select this option. At checkout, the customer will be prompted to type in their Credit Card information to complete the transaction. After it is completed, the customer will automatically receive their album.

Alternatively, this mode enables the Square Reader and Pay on Phone.

When using the Stripe (card typed in), we charge following the "Online" pricing model. When using Square (card swiped), we charge following the "On Site" pricing model. See Plans for details.

Additional Options

Display Pricing

You can display your pricing on the tablet-based kiosks for guests to view before they checkout. If you have special in-store pricing, that does not match our pricing schemes, we recommend you turn off pricing and display a pricing poster instead.

Pay On Phone

Allows guests to complete their purchase using their phone. This lets them use GPay, Apple Pay or enter their credit card information from the comfort of their own device.

When turned on, along with "In-App Payment" customers will have an choice on how they wish to pay. If they select on phone then they will be presented with a QR code and short link to complete their payment. They will also be SMSed the link if they entered an SMS number on the delivery screen.

Once enabled, a second setting will appear "Pay on Phone Time Limit". To encourage guests to pay while on site and before they leave a time limit is set on their cart. After the time limit expires their cart will be cleared and any instore discount will be removed. By default this time limit is 10 minutes but can be adjusted to be longer if desired.

Pay With Cash

If you are using In-app Payment, some customer may want to pay with cash instead. This option allows a staff member to override the credit card checkout process. By tapping a Pay With Cash button Staff can type in the App's PIN code to override the credit card fields.

Note: This is treated as if the payment is completed with a Gift Card.

Enable Content Sync for Full Albums

Similar to when sending a full album from the workspace (Auto Syncing Entire Album Sends), the tablet can be set to automatically sync guest purchases.

Unlike the Entire Album Sends, this settings is aware of any Pricing Scheme split your team has set between photos and videos. It will only allow syncing of the media content that has reached the "Full Album" tier of your pricing scheme.

Override Default Pricing

Do you have different pricing in-store than online? You can customize your app pricing in your setting and specify a unique pricing plan to display on kiosks. This can be useful if you wish to provide a discount on in-store sales.

  1. First create a second pricing scheme on the [Pricing](/kb/pricing/pricing) page.
  2. Toggle on Override Default Pricing in the Kiosk
  3. From the dropdown that appears, select the name of the pricing you wish to use.

Whichever pricing is set as Default on your Pricing Page will be used on the Online Store. Override Pricing only changes what is displayed on the tablet.

Square Reader

The Square Reader is only available to US based customers. This is a limitation set by Square Inc. We recommend using the headphone jack based card readers as they can be attached directly to the tablet and do not require charging. Bluetooth readers are also supported, but may disconnect if left alone for too long.

To use a Square Reader you first need to connect your Square Account to PicThrive. See Connect Square

For setup instructions see: Enable Square on the Tablet

Enable Square on this Tablet.

Turn this on to allow the enabling of Square on this kiosk.

Square Merchant Account

First select your desired Square Merchant Account. If you have only connected 1 account, this will automatically select it.

Square Location

Next select your Square Location this tablet will reside at. If you only have 1 location inside your account, this will automatically select it.

When selecting a location, we will display the details and location you registered the location to in Square. Square does enable GPS tracking of tablets when they swipe. We recommend your location registered in Stripe matches the physical location of the tablet.

Authorization Status

After selecting a location, you will need to authorize the tablet. Tap the "Authorize & Activate Location" button to start the Authorization Process.

A window will popup when Authorized. Square requires that you provide it will the required Android Permissions. Be sure to click through each requested Permission and grant it access "Always" or "While Using the App".

Device Settings

This option will display once the tablet has been Authorized with Square. You can customize readers, view permission state, and adjust bluetooth connections here.

Allow Tipping

You can optionally turn on Tipping after purchase here. If enabled we will ask the guest if they would like to tip. We offer 15%, 20%, and 30% as default options. Additionally, the customer can set their own tip amount. Any tips through here are processed through your Square account.
