Can customers pay on the kiosk app?

Yes. You can accept payments from the kiosk app. Guests can enter their credit card information and complete the order. It helps you process more guests faster and guests don't have to line up to pay at your front desk.

For US based customers it is also possible to use a Square Reader attached to the tablet for customers to swipe their own Credit Card. See: Enable Square on the Tablet

To enable customers to Pay on the tablet:

  1. Open the Tablet App
  2. Go to the PicThrive Settings
  3. Navigate to "Payment"
  4. Toggle on "In-app Payment"

How are videos displayed on the Kiosk App?

Videos can be streamed live, with audio, if they have been uploaded to the cloud. The video can be purchased by a guest just like they do with photos.

If the video has not uploaded to the cloud, a placeholder image will appear. A guest can add this placeholder to their cart to purchase the video. They will receive the actual video in their album after checking out and the video has finished uploading.

If you have an old tablet that does not run a recent version of Android the video will show a looping preview instead of streaming.

In Instant Photo Sales mode videos are displayed using a placeholder image.

What credits cards are accepted?

The credit cards that are accepted depend on the location of your business.

  • U.S. businesses can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.
  • Countries that can accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express include Australia, Canada, EU countries, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.

A customer's card was declined, what can I do?

Unfortunately, now and again customers cards can be declined. This can happen for a variety of reasons:

  • The wrong CVC or Zip Code was entered.
  • The bank declined the transaction.
  • The card balance is too low.

To solve this we suggest a couple solutions:

  • Ensure information was inputted correctly.
  • Take payment over your own POS and Send a full album to the guest via the Workspace.
  • Try a different card.
  • Update your Stripe settings to be more lenient on card security. https://dashboard.stripe.com.

Why are photos not watermarked?

Make sure you turned on Watermarks in the Settings. See Kiosk Main Settings.

Why are no photos are being displayed?

  1. Make sure the tablet has an internet connection.
  2. Check if Instant Photo Sales Kiosk mode is turned on or off.
  • If it is turned on, make sure the photos are uploaded on the correct computer.
  • If it is turned off, make sure the photos are fully uploaded, or see PicThrive Instant Installation to get locally available photos.

Why is the pricing wrong on the kiosk?

The Kiosk will cache pricing to provide a better experience for guests. If you change your pricing, make sure to restart the PicThrive App.

Why can I not see any Pending Orders on my other computer?

If you are using PicThrive Instant mode on the tablets, any created pending orders will only appear on the uploading computer, or any Secondary Install computers (PicThrive Instant Specific Settings). To resolve this we recommend the following possible solutions:

  • Changing which computer you upload from to be one near your payment system.
  • Installing PicThrive Instant in "Secondary" mode on a computer near the front desk.
  • Move your uploading computer to be more accessible.
  • Turn off Instant Mode if not needed on the tablets.
  • Writing down emails of guests who purchased and then going to the uploading computer at the end of the day to approve orders.
