With PicThrive Instant you can automatically watch a folder on your local computer for new files and easily add them to PicThrive. You might want to use this if you always drag files onto your computer into the same folder, use a network drive, or have a camera connected to an FTP. Additionally programs like Canon's EOS Utility can automatically pull files from your camera into a local folder. Using PicThive Instant now makes it easier to add those files into PicThrive albums.

To enable this feature, first make sure PicThrive Instant is up to date.

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Scroll to "Folder Detection"
  3. Toggle on the feature
  4. Choose a folder you want to monitor
  5. Select if you want PicThrive Instant to keep files, or delete them after they are put into an album.
    1. If you select to "keep the directory empty", after any new files are added to a PicThrive album, they will be deleted from the watched folder.
    2. If you select to "Ignore existing files", files will not be deleted after being added to a PicThrive Album.
  6. Lastly determine how you want PicThrive Instant to treat subfolders.
    1. "Treat subfolders as albums". This will automatically create new albums when photos appear in subfolders. This is very useful when you already organize as folders, or if you export from programs like Lightroom or ACDSee.
    2. "Prompt for actions on each media item". You will need to select each photo and move them into the desired album.
Does your camera support FTP transfers? You might want to try out FTP Server for Automatic Camera Transfers
